Install LOBBY on Android

Android 8.0 or newer

During the alpha, LOBBY is installed from an APK file rather than from Google Play. It takes about a minute.

Five steps

    Download from joinlobbyapp.com
    Tap “Download LOBBY Alpha” on the LOBBY homepage. Download LOBBY only from joinlobbyapp.com, never from a link someone sends you or from another website.

    Allow installs from your browser
    Android will ask whether your browser may install apps. Allow it for this browser. You can turn the permission off again afterwards in Settings.

    Confirm the installation
    Open the downloaded file and follow Android’s installation screen. If Android or Google Play Protect shows a scan or security message, read it. Scanning an app that is not yet on Google Play is normal. If a message says the app is harmful, stop and contact us.

    Open LOBBY
    Find LOBBY in your app list and open it.

    Sign in with Google
    Choose your Google account. If you used LOBBY before, your profile is restored, on this phone or a new one.
LOBBY will never ask you to turn off Google Play Protect or any other security feature on your phone. If an instruction asks you to, it did not come from LOBBY.

Checking the file

The homepage lists the version and the SHA-256 checksum of the current APK. To check the file before installing, compare its checksum with the one on the homepage.
